I paint for the love of painting, for the making of images, and to see what might come. For me painting feels like play. The pure potential of having a brush loaded with paint in my hand and the sensation of the brush pushing against the canvas has a deep effect on me. I paint for the dance. Enjoying the edges of things, the juncture where object meets space or space envelopes object. The challenge of the process and the richness and rightness of the experience moves me forward into the work. I paint for the pure sensuous pleasure of the experience and because I feel there is something that life wants to express through me.

The process is one of unfolding and discovery.  The feeling is like being in a story and not knowing what will happen, then painting to find out.  Only in this case, the mystery is not solved when the paining is finished. I would hope that these paintings retain their mystery long after the last touch of the brush. 

It is my prayer that these images will touch people's hearts, reminding us of the amazing possibilities inherent in being ordinary people, with access to the most extraordinary love.
